Game Rules

Simple to learn, satisfying to master. Here’s how to play our three main puzzles.

Zip core rules

  • Start on 1 and connect numbers in ascending order.
  • Draw one continuous path through adjacent cells.
  • No branches or crossings are allowed.
  • Visit every cell exactly once before you reach the final number.

Mini Sudoku core rules

  • Each row must contain the digits 1–6 exactly once.
  • Each column must also contain the digits 1–6 once.
  • Every 3×2 box requires all digits 1–6 with no repeats.
  • Only place digits that fit both their row, column, and box.

Queens core rules

  • Place exactly one Queen in each row, column, and color region.
  • Queens cannot touch each other—not even diagonally.
  • Use X to mark squares where you know a Queen cannot go.

Zip tips that help right away

  • Use corners and edges to force early structure.
  • Keep routes open to the next number before committing.
  • Avoid sealing 2×2 boxes that trap your path.
  • Check that all remaining cells stay reachable.

Mini Sudoku starter tips

  • Scan for rows or columns that already contain five digits—usually only one number can fit.
  • Use pencil notes to keep track of candidates and clear them as you place digits.
  • Look for boxes where a digit can only go in one cell; place it immediately.
  • Cross-check your notes when you place a digit to prevent conflicts.

Queens starter tips

  • If a region fits entirely in one row, the Queen for that row must be in that region (and vice versa).
  • When you place a Queen, mark all surrounding squares (including diagonals) with X.
  • If a square is the only spot left in a row, column, or color, it must be the Queen.

Zip quick FAQ

What ends a level?

You win when your single path covers every cell and reaches the highest number in order.

Can I undo?

Yes. Back up to the last fork and try the other option to keep the board connected.

Mini Sudoku quick FAQ

Queens quick FAQ

What if I get stuck?

Look for rows/cols where only one or two spots are left. Placing an X can sometimes reveal the only valid spot for a Queen.

Is this the same as Star Battle?

Yes! It is a variant of the Star Battle logic puzzle, often played with 1 or 2 stars per row/column. Ours uses 1 Queen.
